Carrie Underwood Sound of Music Prayer

Carrie Underwood Sound of Music Prayer

For Carrie Underwood the hills are alive with the sound of disatisfaction. Her performance in the live NBC production of The Sound of Music did not have a prayer of a chance with her in the lead role as Maria Von Trapp. At least that is what critics are saying. No one, it seems, was overly pleased with Carrie’s rendition in the acting arena.

  1. Sound of Music had a repeat tonight. I watched some of it again and It’s true that Carrie’s acting was off. It was the inflection in her voice. I have watched interviews with Carrie and that is her voice. Somehow it doesn’t translate to acting. Most of the professional stage actors were awesome but a few were not.
For me I can overlook Carries weak acting with her outstanding singing.
The number with the children in her room could be sung by very few. Wow.
I still admire the crew and actors of that enormous production. To have a live production on TV was perfect for me.

    1. Live productions are always exciting and not just for the actors! It is the closest one can get to seeing a theatrical production on stage from the comfort of your own home. I admire anyone who has the moxie to do live television! 🙂

  3. Carrie had the vocals and the face. She also had a very stiff actor, the Captain to mostly play off of. Had he been a better actor Carrie might had responded better to him. I felt her scenes with other actors she did much better. Also a stage play does not have close ups, cameras. Stage plays are just different.
For a live production in a warehouse with set and wardrobe changes done in a 3 minute commercial TV breaks had to be a logistic nightmare.
Most critics seemed to be stage people. No stage actor would had pulled in 18.5 million viewers.
    I enjoyed it very much.

    1. Very nice to hear some positive feedback on what would have been a mammoth task for seasoned actor, let alone a neophyte such as Carrie. Props to her for partaking and pleasing at least some who saw her. 🙂
