The news that Being Mary Jane was approved for a second season means that Stephen Bishop, who plays David Paulk the on again off again love interest of Mary Jane (Gabrielle Union), will be coming back as well and the busy actor gave the Guardian Liberty Voice an exclusive interview to talk about the show as well as other things. The 43 year old actor used to play for The Atlanta Braves before getting into the entertainment business as an actor.
The release of the new Star Wars teaser trailer features Attack the Block actor John Boyega and apart from the fact that this has caused major ripples among fans of the verse, it is exciting to see such a powerful young actor cast in a huge blockbuster film. Intertwined with the palpable excitement that this trailer has caused are the usual fans who want to complain vociferously about what appears to be a black storm trooper. One tweet got straight to the point with message that “politically correct rubbish” was going to fill the next portion of the Star Wars franchise.
The CW comic book hero series Arrow is doing a crossover with The Flash and the big two night event will be in just two days, for those who are not up on current actions on either show, this means a spot of binge watching is in order. Arrow, a show that started back in 2012, has been on the air quite a bit longer than The Flash, this “new kid” debuted on October 7, 2014. A connection was made between the two DC Comic’s heroes in the pilot of the latter show and now the network is setting up a proper crossover. Are they hedging their bets?
TV audience members who have only just discovered the splendid supernatural world of Grimm, season four, will have noticed that a somewhat heavier, and older, Alexis Denisof is back in the land of fantasy and horror, this time on NBC. This modern day version of Grimm’s fairy tales has been around since 2011 and viewers who tuned in back then will notice that a lot has changed since a bald and dying Kate Burton (Daughter of the Welsh icon that was Richard Burton.) drove into Portland, Oregon and her nephew Nick Burkhardt’s life. Burton’s character departs the show by the end of the second episode of season one leaving her nephew the next in line of Grimm’s who can see creatures who inhabit human bodies and who must now “take care” of the ones who misbehave
54 Days, an independent Australian film from Tim R. Lea is a truly gripping bit of work that goes to show just how great cinema is that comes from Oz. It has to be pointed out that of the best horror and science fiction films out of the last 20 years, quite an impressive number have come from “the land down under,” and this award winning festival favorite joins a lot of popular movies that have either become cult favorites or great additions to a film genre.
Constantine: Rage of Caliban continues to improve with each viewing and the main protagonist’s Englishness, in an American setting is refreshing, although the reactions to his British phrasing does not go much past the art of ignoring what they do not understand or looking blankly at Matt Ryan’s Constantine when he uses words like “shirty,” at the schoolyard scene. This iteration of the comic book character is much more like his literary origins. John is more a “Jack the Lad” type (An English phrase that means the individual likes his drink, chasing women and partying.) who plays as hard as he works. Early in this episode, Constantine wakes up in a woman’s bed, a bit worse for his alcohol intake the night before and when she says he must leave as her boyfriend is coming, John says she did not mention a boyfriend “last night.” Her response is that yes, she did.
In this week’s episode of Z Nation: Murphy’s Law, aka “A Chatty Cathy,” Murphy is the center of attention when Warren and her group stumble upon a country club with a golf course and clubhouse full of “Zs.” While Roberta is mourning the loss of Addy and Mack, the saviour of humanity is excited at the prospect of hitting a few balls at the course. Cassandra asks if they will ever see the two missing members of their group and Warren says that her heart wants to think so, but her head tells her something different. Considering all the sounds of gunfire at the end of Sister’s of Mercy when Mack got out of the jeep, it is highly doubtful that he will be returning.
